JESTERS U35s @ HURLINGHAM 2023

Young Jesters Event @ The Hurlingham Club (Sat 3rd June 2023)

We have now established a regular cadence for these events and following those held at Queen’s (Jul-22), Southbank (Oct-22), and Cumberland (Feb-23), we held our fourth instalment of ‘Young Jesters’ at Hurlingham on Sat 3rd June.

Our format is now well-established – 30 players (6 teams of 5) playing a group-stage followed by a play-off for positions (each player getting 3x PAR 15 match). After its success at the last event (a.k.a freeing up Andrew’s administrative duties), the Google Sheets model for which all players input their scores and auto-updates the tables has become a regular feature.

After a slight issue convincing the security team to let us in the grounds (“Sorry, What is Young Jesters Squash?”), all went smoothly. Having topped their respective groups, Teams Black Ball and British Open (named after PSA events) faced each other in the final. It was an incredibly tight match that went down to the wire. Despite Colin T winning the final rubber 15-14 (sudden death at 14-14) with an audacious reverse boast, his opponent David S had gained enough points to secure victory for Team Black Ball. Congrats to Ben M, Adam B, David S, Eve S, Abbey S!

We enjoyed the delights of the Hurlingham Summer BBQ with free-flowing Pimms on the (unofficial) first weekend of the summer!

Thank you to all attendees, the organisers (Andrew, Laura, Owen, Maxi and Paul), and The Hurlingham Club for kindly hosting us.

If you are a younger Jester (or young at heart!?) and would like to get involved or organise an event, please contact Andrew Lindsay, Laura Neill or Owen Riddall.
